Montana Personal Injury Attorney
Dix, Hunt and McDonald |
Dix, Hunt and McDonald is a firm which was founded in 1959 in Chester, Montana, by William Edward Hunt, Sr. Mr. Hunt later became a Montana Supreme Court Justice, serving from 1985 to 2000.
The firm's offices were established in Helena in 1983, with Jim Hunt joining the firm in 1985. Jonathan McDonald joined the firm in 2006.
The Montana Trial Lawyers Association named Jim Hunt Trial Lawyer of the Year in 2004. Dix, Hunt and McDonald believe that they are superbly equipped litigators, and committed to standing up for the rights of their clients.
Under Montana personal injury law, anyone who causes an injury may be responsible for compensating the injured. Dix, Hunt McDonald, assists injured people in pursuing their rights in these cases.
Incidents of personal injury with which the firm can help are auto accidents, truck accidents, motorcycle accidents, medical malpractice, work site accidents, and serious and catastrophic injury.
In addition to a grand reputation in handling simple personal injury cases, Dix, Hunt, and McDonald are especially well known for their work in the areas of brain injuries and insurance disputes.
They are very familiar with the course and symptoms of brain injury, and therefore take the time to fully evaluate the medical condition of the client and the circumstances of the accident that caused the injury.
They have studied and are intimately versed in the detailed criteria established by the U.S. Army and the National Football League for the diagnosis of brain injury, and use that knowledge to cooperate with skilled medical experts in documenting their clients' injuries.
Insurance companies, under Montana law, owe the consumer certain legal duties. Among these are what are called Ridley benefits, described as payment for medical bills and lost wages that are not being paid by another source.
When making a claim to another person's insurance company, the consumer is owed a duty of good faith and fair dealing, which includes the insurance company's obligation to be prompt in answering all correspondence and communications.
Failing to live up to these duties is an example of bad faith. Another example would be if an insurance company refuses to settle a valid claim within a reasonable amount of time.
Failure to do so opens them up to possibly owing the claimant more than the policy limit. Dix, Hunt, and McDonald are experts in insuring that these obligations are met.
Randy Dix has been practicing law for 32 years. His practice is exclusively the prosecution and litigation of complex medical negligence and personal injury cases.
He has tried more medical negligence cases than any other lawyer in the State of Montana, and has negotiated numerous multi-million dollar settlements in the area of medical negligence.
Jim Hunt's areas of practice include animal bites, Federal Appellate Practice, Federal Trial Practice, legal malpractice, medical malpractice, auto accidents, premises liability, and wrongful death.
He was admitted to the Montana Bar in 1982, the U.S. District Court of Montana in 1983, and the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in the same year.
He obtained his Juris Doctorate from the University of Montana School of Law in 1982.
